Moving to Dassel-A New Shop is Born!
So we started moving into the old bakery space on August 16, 2019 knowing that we had two weeks to transform it into the new Simply Quimby location. My vision was to create a space for people to come and create. I had that vision since we opened Simply Quimby in our big red barn. Unfortunately, the barn could never become that, but the old bakery could! We had a soft opening during Red Rooster Days in Dassel (over Labor Day weekend). It wasn't everything I wanted, but it sure was a start! We closed again to finish creating the vision. October 8th we opened the doors again and here we are bumping along this uncharted road.
My passion is to create: Flowers, Signs, Jewelry, you name it. But what I enjoy more than that is sharing that passion with others. Seeing faces light up when they create, when they finish, and when they are successful! I knew/know that we will have some hiccups, like our website not being super friendly with the class sign ups (I think it is much better now), loosing the cd for the Hokey Pokey on kids night, and having our crackling technique not work during a project so we had to start over. But I stick to my word that I will try everything I can to ensure you love your project or we will try something else until you do. The biggest challenge so far is teaching Avery that it is okay for Mom to help other kids, to talk to strangers, and to not use all of the glue and glitter before or during classes. So please bare with us as she adjusts to the new shop too.
We are open every week! Tuesday nights are our kids night, (but don't let it stop you older kids from coming), we have more glitter, are a little louder and (we ordered a new cd) some moving and shaking! Thursday Nights we have Adult Classes/Crafting from 6pm to 9pm. Friday we are open from 10am-4pm, no classes scheduled this day. But you can come pick a project we have already created or make your own. We have a vinyl cutter on site, as well as our saw, to make your project yours. Plus we have a smaller selection of ceramics and you can use our supplies to finish it off. Saturday's are our all ages days for classes/workshops and we are open 10am-3pm. The only time this schedule could possibly change is really bad weather or one of my girls has sports or are really sick.
We still have our Farmhouse Decor, some furniture and definitely our soaps. Even if it seems they have taken a back seat to the classes. So if you don't want to pop in and create, or even take a class/workshop, you can pick up the already done items. I am just overly excited to be able to offer a space for people to make what they love and to be You-nique! I invite you to stop in and see the new shop, embark on a crafting adventure and be patient with our hiccups. I love it and hope you will too!
